In Conjunction with the City of
We are very lucky here in the Bay Area to have some of the finest sailing in the entire world. But part of enjoying sailing to its fullest is knowing how to handle your vessel properly and safely. Let Spinnaker Yacht Club open the door for your children through which they can join the scores of young Bay Area sailors who have gone from Lake Merrit to Angel Island to the Olympics and around the world in sailboats.
This program is open to residents and non-residents between the ages of 10 thru 18 years old. Students will learn basic sailing, water safety, rules of the sea, and nautical terms. The course structure consists of 50% classroom instruction and 50% on-the-water training in Spinnaker Yacht Club's state-of-the-art Dewitt sail trainers. Students will be required to demonstrate the ability to tread water, and to swim for a short distance. No previous training or experience sailing is required.
